'''Plated Beetles''' are larger, armored variants of [[Beetle]]s. Like Beetles and [[Ice Beetle]]s, Plated Beetles attack by ramming. Although the armored body is resistant to most weapons, the Plated Beetle's abdomen is vulnerable to attack. [[Samus Aran|Samus's]] first encounter with a Plated Beetle is shortly before acquiring the [[Morph Ball]]. She is first attacked by a large group of Beetles followed by a Plated Beetle. Plated Beetles become more common after Samus defeats [[Flaaghra]].
