A Federation Marine is any combat troop in the [[Galactic Federation Marine Corps]]., or GFMC for short. The Federation Marines debuted in ''[[Metroid Prime 2: Echoes]]'' in cutscenes and as dead bodies. There are specialized troops in the GMFC, such as a PED Trooper.

In ''[[Metroid Prime 3: Corruption]]'', a new type of Galactic Federation suit was introduced, called the [[Phazon Enhancement Device Suit]], or PED for short. The PED Suit consisted of a pack filled with liquid Phazon carried on the troopers' backs. When activated, the PED would send Phazon to the suit's weapons, greatly increasing their offensive power.
The federation also integrated a PED into [[Samus Aran]]'s [[Varia Suit]]. Unlike the standard PED, this device was not powered by a Phazon backpack. Instead, this model drew power from the Phazon infection inside Samus's body. [[Rundas]], [[Ghor]], and [[Gandrayda]] were equipped with similar devices.
