The King Kihunter is a boss in Metroid: Other M. Samus encounters this creature while investigating Sector 1 (Biosphere). The King Kihunter inhabits and grows inside of a massive, organic egg or seed. It apparently has authority over other Kihunters, as shown when it summons them to attack. The King Kihunter itself never actually attacks Samus.

Strategy
After falling down a large tunnel, Samus lands in a cave, and finds herself surrounded by Kihunter larvae. After inspecting them, adult Kihunters fly in to defend their young. The battle consists of Samus attacking waves of Kihunters, while also shooting at flowers on the ceiling that support the oversized King Kihunter egg. Once all flowers are destroyed, the egg falls to the ground, partially shatters, and Samus must attack the King until it's terminated. At this point, the remaining Kihunters flee the area, and the Little Birdie is seen devouring slime from the egg.

The easiest comparison is to bees, which they also closely resemble. This gigantic insect seems to be the leader of the cloned Kihunter colony that appears in Metroid: Other M, similar in status to bee colony's queen.<br><br>PAL: Like social insects in real life, Kihunters work as a colony, with a hierarchy and roles to play. Basically, they're like bees. They kind of look like bees too... This gigantic insect seems to be the leader of the cloned Kihunter colony that appears in Metroid: Other M. In bee terms, that would make it the queen.|Randomly Obtained|}}
