Commandos are armed with an energy scythe, pulse cannons, and an EMP grenade launcher. Pirate Commandos can also temporarily generate a shield that can deflect nearly all attacks.<ref name="Logbook"/>

Samus encounters Pirate Commandos twice in ''Metroid Prime 2'', first in [[Torvus Bog]] where she was attacked by a pair of Commandos. Later in [[Sanctuary Fortress|Sanctuary]], Samus is attacked by a large group of Commandos. [[Dark Pirate Commando|Dark Pirate Commandos]], which are Commandos possessed by [[Hunter Ing]],<ref>{{cite|Only Hunter Ing are allowed to possess the Commandos, and the competition for that right is fierce among them. The Hunter Ing ability to phase out of local timespace carries over to the Dark Pirate Commando.
