'''Sentry Drones''' are Mechanoids used for protection of [[Space Pirate]] bases. These drones are capable of firing sustained energy beams and are also armed with cannons that are used to rapidly fire bursts of projectiles. When alerted to the presence of intruders, Sentry Drones lock down the area preventing escape until either they or the intruders are destroyed. Defensively, they can scramble electronic signals such as [[Samus Aran|Samus's]] visors.<ref name="Logbook" /><ref name="Web data"/> 

Like many Mechanoids, Sentry Drones are highly vulnerable to electrical based attacks, such as the [[Wave Beam (Metroid Prime)|Wave Beam]]. Multiple uncharged blasts from the Wave Beam can quickly destroy them while a [[Charge Beam|charged]] blast renders the drone immobile.

The Space Pirates have also developed two known variations of the Sentry Drone. For underwater activity, [[Aqua Drone]]s were built. A more powerful [[Cloaked Drone|Cloaked Sentry Drone]] was also built; however, Samus only encounters one in the [[Central Dynamo]] of the [[Phazon Mines]], where it defends the [[Power Bomb]] [[upgrade]].
