Usage

This template is to contain information about files uploaded to the wiki and should be included on every file page.

Parameters

• description — A description of the file; this parameter is required.
• game — The game or other piece of media the file pertains to, if applicable. Anything defined in Template:Game-key can be put here.
• source — Where the file was found by the uploader (not where it was originally created, unless it was created by the uploader); this parameter is required
• edits — Any edits made by the uploader.
• original-name — The original official file name for files that have them; for example, press images.
• license — The type of file, which determines which copyright license is displayed. Options are screenshot, artwork, sprite, cover, logo, audio, model, and pd (public domain). This parameter is required; if left blank, the fair use license is displayed.

The game and license parameters also automatically categorize a file. For example, an image with game = Metroid Dread and license = screenshot will be automatically categorized under Category:Metroid Dread screenshots.

Notice parameters

The following parameters will produce a notice box above the file information box:

• meta — For images that are exclusively used either in the Metroid Wiki namespace, Help namespace, site skin, or for testing.
• template — For images that are exclusively used in templates. The template's name can be entered here and will be displayed in the notice; if yes is entered for this parameter, no template name will be displayed.
• personal — For personal images. The uploader's username can be entered here and will be displayed in the notice; if yes is entered for this parameter, no username will be displayed.

This file is a sprite from a copyrighted video game It is believed that its use here constitutes fair use, given that: it is used in a non-commercial setting, and therefore is not being used to generate profit in this context. its use here does not significantly impede the right of the copyright holder to sell the copyrighted material. it is used in a largely unaltered state, where any editing has been done purely for cosmetic purposes. the original content of the file has not been modified, and it is not a derivative work.
