The Mining Plaza is a room in the Agon Wastes. The room connects the Plaza Access, the Agon Map Station, the Transit Station, the Mining Station Access, and Save Station A, the last of which is blocked by a Red Blast Shield.

The room essentially consists of two levels. The lowest level consists of two pits of sand, in the south, and a rocky area in the north. There is a large structure in the center of the room. The rocky northern part has a large Translator Door that can only be lowered with the amber upgrade to the Translator Module. There is a small Morph Ball tunnel behind this gate, which leads to the Agon Map Station. Each of the sand pits has a Sandigger in them. The pits are separated by a small stone walkway that ends at the door to Save Station A, blocked by a Red Door. These pits are next to a series of platforms that lead upwards along a path.

This path must be completed by dislodging two pillars with Missiles to form bridges over a ravine in the central structure. A swarm of Sandbats will fly around each of these bridges. The path goes past the door to the Transit Station, but it is behind an unbreakable gate. The only way for Samus to get to this door is to enter from the Portal in the Dueling Range. The path continues onto the top of the central structure. The path then leads across another bridge, that has a swarm of Sandbats, ending at the door to the Mining Station Access. The top of the central structure has three solar lenses in the inactive state. They can be moved to the correct position by using the Sonic Visor to detect and destroy several sonic emitters. Once all the lenses are in position, a door high above the door to the Plaza Access will move away, revealing an Energy Tank. Samus can acquire it using the Screw Attack. There is also a large statue next to the lenses that resembles Amorbis.
