The Wii U is a home video game console made by Nintendo and released in 2012. While no original Metroid games were released for the Wii U, several games were re-released via the Virtual Console, and Nintendo Land and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U both feature Metroid content.

Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid: Zero Mission, and Metroid Prime Hunters were released for the Wii U Virtual Console from 2013 to 2016, and Metroid Prime: Trilogy for the Wii was released on the Nintendo eShop in 2015.
