A Berserker Lord is a Berserker Knight that has been greatly exposed to Phazon. Samus encountered only one of these creatures, once onboard the G.F.S Olympus, and the second and last time on SkyTown, Elysia. It is unclear how it survived the first time,as it was first left for dead in space, and then rammed by an unknown fighter, presumably a Federation Stiletto Fighter.

It appears to be a continuation of the research experiments conducted by the Space Pirates almost 3 years prior. Those experiments results were the Elite Pirate and Omega Pirate, with the Omega Pirate being the Berserker Lord's equivalent.
