After the events of ''[[Metroid (game)|Metroid]]'', Ridley was revived as a mechanical counterpart, Meta Ridley. The [[Space Pirate|Space Pirates]] resuscitated his mortally damaged body, enhancing him with mechanical infusions and an array of weapons systems, including a missile system, plasma cannon, and plasma bombs. Meta Ridley was then to go to the [[Frigate Orpheon]] to finish repairs, at least, until disaster struck.
