The Elite Control is a room in the Phazon Mines. It connects the Elite Control Access, the Maintenance Tunnel, and the Ventilation Shaft by a Purple Door and White Doors respectively. The lower are is relatively open except for a few computer terminals and a large stasis pod with an Elite Pirate inside. A force field blocks access to the other parts of the room at first. Small hallways to the Elite Control Access and the Maintenance Tunnel are found at both ends of the area. When Samus enters the room, the Elite Pirate breaks out of its pod and attacks. Once Samus has defeated it, the force field will be deactivated by the resulting shock wave. This reveals a walkway that leads higher to an area with three Ice Troopers. The door to the Ventilation Shaft is found here behind a forcefield. This area has a large number of computer terminals, some have Space Pirate Data. One particular terminal will deactivate the force field. Five Shadow Pirates can be found in the room on later visits, two in the top area, three in the bottom.
