The Alpha Sandigger is the dominant of the Sandigger species of Agon Wastes and the second boss in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Like other Sandiggers, it attacks by ramming and firing acidic fluid.

Bomb Guardian

Shortly after the Alpha Sandigger attacks Samus, it is possessed by the Ing that stole Samus's Bombs. The Bomb Guardian's second head mutates and gains the ability to drop Bombs. Its mandibles will not open, preventing Samus from attacking the Bomb Guardian. Its tail is more sensitive however, allowing Samus to temporarily stun the creature with enough damage. During this time, Samus can damage the creature's head, but if she fails to attack it enough the Bomb Guardian will fire out a large amount of Bombs.

This darkling Sandigger has absorbed the ability to generate Morph Ball Bombs. It can throw Bombs with considerable accuracy, and frequently lays a spread of Bombs in its wake. Its head and tail are the only vulnerable spots on its body. Target them when they are vulnerable to neutralize and terminate this enemy.
