After destroying the Pirate Homeworld's Leviathan Seed, Samus needed to find the access codes to allow the Galactic Federation Fleet enter a wormhole to the planet Phaaze. Fleet Admiral Dane discovered that the codes are found aboard the G.F.S. Valhalla, the downed Federation vessel. In order to reach the code, Samus needs to find at least six of the ten Energy Cells used to power up the ship. The Control Room stores Aurora Unit 313's last testament, which warns the Galactic Federation of Phaaze and Dark Samus's power. This is eerily noted as "...Darkness coming."

Etymology
Like most Federation vessels, the G.F.S. Valhalla is named after a prominent figure in ancient Earth mythology. Valhalla is a great hall located in Asgard ruled over by the Norse god Odin. Many who died in combat hoped to be led there by Valkyries in the afterlife to join the Einherjar, as well as Norse kings and heroes.
