The Grapple Guardian is a Grenchler possessed by the Warrior Ing that stole Samus's Grapple Beam in the beginning of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. When possessed by the Grapple Guardian, the beam can adhere to most objects and will fire it when angered. The Grapple Guardian moves faster than a normal Grenchler allowing it to protect its vulnerable back. Samus must fire at its sensitive eye to anger it then force its beam to attach to one of the pillars in the chamber. Samus can then fire at its back. After its shell is broken, the Grapple Guardian will rip off the surface of the pillars preventing its beam from attaching to it but its eye can now take damage. By firing at its eye, Samus can stun it long enough to damage it further.
The Grapple Guardian is a boss from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It is a Grenchler possessed by the Warrior Ing that stole Samus's Grapple Beam near the beginning of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It has a much faster response time and is much more resilient than a normal Dark Grenchler, but it still shares the same genetic weakness. It will also use the stolen Grapple Beam to defend itself when angered.

Battle
The battle takes place in the confines of the Sacrificial Chamber, with a pillar coursing with energy on each end. The Grapple Guardian attacks by ramming Samus or by biting her if she is already nearby. Samus must fire at the Grapple Guardian's eye to enrage it. This causes it to attack using the stolen Grapple Beam. If it hits one of the pillars, it will become stunned, allowing Samus to open fire on its vulnerable weak point. When the Grapple Guardian is nearly dead, it will stop getting caught on the pillars when stunned, so Samus must quickly strafe around and fire a few shots when the Grapple Guardian is stunned. After the battle, Samus regains her Grapple Beam.
