K-2L is Samus Aran's home planet. "K-2L" was an Earth settlement. Samus is the only survivor of the attack on K-2L by Ridley and the Space Pirates. In the manga, Samus' father was the leader in an excavation for rare minerals to sell, that were native to "K-2L".
