Mecha Ridley is a form of Ridley from Metroid: Zero Mission, as well as the final boss of that game. Mecha Ridley, as the name suggests, is a heavily mechanized form of Ridley. Its body is completely covered in a durable metal of some sort that cannot be damaged by any of Samus's weapons, with the exception of a weakly-shielded area on its chest, a usual weakness for Ridley. Mecha Ridley has glowing green eyes and a large contraption on its back, presumably a battery to sustain its mechanical life. Mecha Ridley is unique among the different Ridley forms, since it cannot fly due to not having wings or legs yet.

Rewards

None

Upon its defeat, Mecha Ridley will drop a large amount of health and activate the self destruct sequence of the Space Pirate Mother Ship.

Mecha Ridley was the first attempt to recreate the fallen Space Pirate commander, and was a direct predecessor to the various forms of Meta Ridley that appeared later.

Claw

Mecha Ridley's claw is used for its primary attacks. During this time, it will rise up, and come crashing down upon the intended prey.

Lasers

Mecha Ridley sometimes fires lasers out of its eyes. The lasers can travel three different directions - straight, down or up.

Missiles

Mecha Ridley will launch missiles from a launcher in its shoulder. These missiles will home in on Samus; they can be shot down to provide extra health and missiles.

Fireballs

Very rarely, Mecha Ridley will open its mouth and launch fireballs towards the top and bottom parts of the screen. The only way to avoid this attack is by space jumping in the middle of the screen until its attack stops.
