Mochtroids are capable of draining energy, but they cannot latch onto their prey and their bodies are much frailer than other Metroids allowing Samus to easily defeat them.[1] They can be killed instantly with the Grapple Beam. They are the first evidence of the Space Pirate's efforts to clone metroids that Samus encounters.
