Morphology
An adolescent Metroid's body is covered by a thick, translucent membrane and four, talon-shaped fangs. Metroids use two of their talons to attach itself to its prey, while using the smaller two to leech its prey's energy. Within the shell are three to five red spherically shaped organic objects, rested atop it's fangs, and connected to it's outer membrane via string-like tendons. However, aside from the Metroids' basic adolescent stage, it also is capable of entering four other, more mature stages of life, if, of course, the correct environmental prerequisites are met. These stages include the Infant Metroid, Alpha Metroid, Gamma Metroid, Zeta Metroid, and Omega Metroid. There are many variations of Metroids aside from those just mentioned including Phazon Metroids, Miniroids, Hunter Metroids, Fission Metroids, Hopping Metroids, Metroid Hatchers, and others.
There are many notable products of Metroids, including Samus Aran herself, since she was infused with Metroid DNA in order to survive X-Parasite invasion of her body. Other Main metroids are Queen Metroid, Metroid Prime, and Dark Samus the remnants of Metroid Prime.
