The Dark Sphere is a biogenerated power sphere encasing the Dark Suit in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
The Amorbis guarding the Dark Agon Temple siphon dark energy from the Dark Sphere while engaged in battle with Samus.[1] Invulnerable to weapons fire, the Dark Sphere can only be damaged by intense concussive force. When adequate damage is dealt to an Amorbis while attached to the Dark Sphere, it will smash the Sphere into the ground with significant impact, causing fractures in the outer casing. Once the Amorbis are defeated, the repeated blows to the casing will cause critical fissures and the Sphere will explode. The Dark Suit upgrade within will be exposed and a temporary Safe Zone will envelope the area where the Sphere was until Samus leaves the room.
On later visits, the crater where the Sphere rested will be inhabited by three Warrior Ing.
