Octopedes are Luminoth built mechanoids originally used for data delivery, but they are now used by the Ing on patrols in Sanctuary Fortress. Octopedes travel in groups of eight and move in a rotating pattern to generate an electrical field that cannot be penetrated, Samus must destroy the Octopedes in order to disrupt the field. When they take enough damage, they will explode.
