Bounty hunters are probably based off of real life [[Wikipedia:Bounty hunter|bounty hunters]] or [[Wikipedia:Mercenary|mercenaries]]. Bounty hunters are extravagantly expensive, as noted by [[Adam Malkovich]] in the [[Metroid Manga]]. Bounty hunters in the Metroid series tend to take a side on the [[Galactic Federation|Galactic]] side against the [[Space Pirate]]s or the exact opposite. Many notable bounty hunters, such as [[Weavel]], easily found their way onto the obvious [[Metroid Prime Hunters]].
