*The Dark Pirate Commandos are similar to the [[Chozo Ghost|Chozo Ghosts]] in [[Metroid Prime (game)|Metroid Prime]]. Both can render themselves invisible and both can be targeted while invisible with a specific visor. In the Chozo Ghosts' case, it is the [[X-Ray Visor]].
*Samus can kill Dark Pirate Commandos faster by freezing them with a [[Charge Beam|charged]] Dark Beam then shattering them with a [[missile]] than she can with the [[Light Beam]]. They share this characteristic with the [[Dark Missile Trooper]].
