Mother Brain is a recurring character in the Metroid series. She is an organic supercomputer located on Planet Zebes, working for the Space Pirates. She is a powerful boss in Metroid, Super Metroid, and Metroid: Zero Mission. In Super Metroid, Mother Brain transforms after her intial defeat in her glass tank. She takes on the form of a highly powerful bipedal being. She also posseses the hyper beam. (Not to be confused with the PED hyper beam.) It is actually impossible for Samus to defeat Mother Brain; only the programmed appearence of the infant metroid allows Samus to complete the boss fight.
