A Bomb Jump is an action that Samus Aran can perform requiring the Morph Ball along with Morph Ball Bombs. It can be used in every Metroid game thus far considering that the Morph Ball Bombs have been available in every game. This ability is generally used to reach higher areas with small openings. It is generally underused and is easily rendered obsolete by other abilities such as the Power Grip in Metroid Fusion or the Spring Ball. Despite the fact that it is not often necessary to advance and games, it is used to obtain hidden suit expansions in various areas.

Because Morph Ball Bombs are often limited to three bombs for a couple seconds, it becomes difficult, but possible, to obtain an Infinite Bomb Jump. This technique is often used to sequence break. It is often usable due to oversights. It allows Samus to continuously jump upwards using Morph Ball Bombs. It is best used in Metroid: Zero Mission due to its lack of a cap on Morph Ball Bomb usage.
