The wave beam is an electrical type beam which is received after defeated the sheegoth. when you hit an enemy (such as a space pirate) the enemy will stop for a second and will be electrocuted. The missile mode for this is the wavebuster.

In Metroid Prime, the Arm Cannon shifts into a different configuration when the Wave Beam is active.

The Wave Beam is one of the upgrades to Samus's basic Arm Cannon designed by the Chozo. Its exact function varies between its appearances.

In Metroid, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid: Zero Mission, it causes Samus's beam to oscillate as it moves through the air. It also allows the beam to travel through walls.
