Dark Aether is the home of the Ing. Dark Aether was created when a Leviathan impacted Aether. The exact details of Dark Aether's formation are not well understood. Landmarks on Aether and Dark Aether tend to mirror each other fairly closely. A select few objects will actually move due to events on the other Aether.
To access Dark Aether, one must use Portals found on Aether. These can either occur naturally or be generated by Luminoth devices. As they do not have the technology to access either form of Portal, it is not certain how the Ing travel from Dark Aether to Aether.
