Template:Enemy-infobox Dark Quads are Luminoth-built machines possessed by the Ing. They are separated into a Main Body and a Command Module, and both are capable of operating individually.[1][2] Lesser Ing take control of the Main Body while stronger Ing take the Command Module.[3][4]

The Main Body attacks with melee attacks, such as slashing, and are also capable of spinning at a high rate to deflect most attacks. The Command Module uses energy-based attacks, which are also capable of generating shields to protect itself.[1] They Main Body is more armored and less susceptible to weapons fire, but vulnerable when venting heat.[2] While connected, Dark Quads can fire a sustained beam of energy.

Samus first encounters Dark Quads in the Sanctuary Temple, then later in the Ing Hive while battling Quadraxis, who is capable of generating them.

Logbook

Logbook entry from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: Dark Quad CM
First Location: Sanctuary Fortress - Sanctuary Temple Limited Scan
The Ing discovered they could possess and control artificially intelligent machines as well as living beings. They soon turned the loyal Quad drones against the Luminoth, finding the tenacious machines to be quite useful additions to the Horde. A dominant darkling assumes control of the Command Module, forcing the lesser Ing in the Main Body to do its bidding.[3]
