Galactic Federation
The Galactic Federation is an intergalactic alliance in war with the Space Pirates. As told throught Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission, and the Metroid manga, Samus Aran also did her time working in the Marines section. The Federation has a powerful military force as well as a police force.[1]

PED Trooper
In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, a new type of Galactic Federation suit was introduced, called the Phazon Enhancement Device, or PED for short. The PED Suit consisted of a pack filled with liquid Phazon carried on the troopers' backs. When activated, the PED would send Phazon to the suit's weapons, greatly increasing their offensive power.
The federation also integrated a PED into Samus Aran's Varia Suit. Unlike the standard PED, this device was not powered by a Phazon backpack. Instead, this model drew power from the Phazon infection inside Samus's body. Rundas, Ghor, and Gandrayda were equipped with similar devices.
