Gronkats are among the domesticated creatures kept as pets by Space Pirates. Because animals were deemed especially susceptible to Phazon Madness, the keeping of pets by Pirates on Tallon IV was suspended. Gronkats and Olbaps were the two species mentioned by name to be exterminated immediately under threat of loss of pay for a cycle and reduced rations.[1]
Though they never make an appearance, they are mentioned in a scan in the Central Dynamo of Phazon Mines.
