In Metroid II: Return of Samus, Hornoads can only hop and do not spit. They are found only in the earliest caverns of SR388. In Metroid Fusion, The X mimic of them is also capable of spitting globs of unknown fluid that will cause damage. On the B.S.L Station, they appear only on the Main Deck and Sector 1 (SRX).

These creatures are also mentioned by Old Bird to Samus while he is explaining the threat of the X parasites.

Trivia

  • The name Hornoad is a portmanteau of the words "horn" real life amphibian, the "toad". Hornoads are toads with small horns covering their backs, hence their name.
