Zeta Metroids are Metroids which have hatched from their familiar infant eggs, and gone through the alpha and gamma stages of their life. Zeta Metroids are the third in a series of Metroid evolution including [[Alpha Metroid]]s, [[Gamma Metroid]]s, Zeta Metroids and [[Omega Metroid]]s.

Zeta Metroids are Metroids which have grown past their Alpha Metroid and Gamma Metroid forms. They are followed by Omega Metroids and, if the Metroid has the proper genetic coding, Queen Metroids. Zeta Metroids attack by firing projectiles and by ramming.
