Triclops are small hunter-gatherers with three jaws.[1] These creatures can only be found in Tallon IV's Magmoor Caverns, and are well-suited to the high temperatures there.

Properties

Triclops are non-aggressive creatures that only damage Samus if they make contact with her, or if they mistake her for rock or foodstuffs and draw her into their jaws for relocation. If she is caught, Samus will be carried and expelled into an area designated for either rock removal or food storage, and take damage. They can only be destroyed if Samus lays a Morph Ball Bomb in their path and a Triclops draws one in, mistaking it for either food or an obstruction.

In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Samus encounters Luminoth-made mechanoids designed to resemble Triclops, known as Mechlops. These were created after attempts to domesticate Triclops for use in war failed.[2] This may indicate that the Luminoth transported specimens from Tallon IV for training, or found an indigenous group of Triclops elsewhere.

The Triclops is a hunter-gatherer. It collects small creatures and bits of foodstuff, then deposits them elsewhere for later consumption. The hard tripartite mandibles it uses to move earth and rock are quite strong and difficult to escape once ensnared.
