Gel Rays are creatures that thrive in Fuel Gel. Because of this, they only appear in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption's planet Bryyo, which is an abundant source of Fuel Gel. They are elusive creatures that are difficult to destroy and scan by Samus since they only appear out of Fuel Gel for seconds at a time to feed.[1] Gel Rays are based off of manta rays.
