Meta Ridley is a cybernetic transformation of the dragon-like creature geoform 187, code-named Ridley. After the events of Metroid, Ridley was revived as a mechanical counterpart, Meta Ridley.
Creation
After Ridley's defeat at the hands of Samus Aran on the planet Zebes, the Space Pirates resuscitated him and began reconstruction on his mortally damaged body on Frigate Orpheon,[1][2] enhancing him with metagenetic and cybernetic improvements and an array of weapons systems, including a Multi-Missile System, a Kinetic-Breath Weapon, an Ultrathermal Flamestrike Projector, and a Meson Bomb Launcher. These supplements resulted in a drastic increase in strength, mobility, and offensive capability, making him a perfect candidate for the pride of the Space Pirate security force.[3]

Metroid Prime
Meta Ridley was on-board the Space Pirate Frigate Orpheon when the mutated Parasite Queens being experimented upon there broke free and began wreaking havoc, and briefly encountered Samus Aran before escaping the deteriorating Frigate and heading for Tallon IV. Samus follows Meta Ridley but does not encounter him again until she is exploring the Phendrana Drifts, where his shadow is seen as he flies overhead in the direction of the Phazon Mines. After Samus obtains all 12 Chozo Artifacts and is about to enter the Impact Crater, Meta Ridley confronts her and a battle ensues. Samus defeats him and Meta Ridley is assumed dead after a direct hit by a laser beam emitted from the Artifact Temple statues and a fall off a cliff into the Impact Crater.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Meta Ridley was revived after that fall and was re-equipped with the same systems and given Phazite Armor. Meta Ridley was seen attacking Norion and was first seen attacking a platoon of Galactic Federation Marines. Next Samus had to face him while in Morph Ball and used Bombs to shake him off. Then she had to go to Generator C where Meta Ridley attacked. They engaged in an epic free fall battle. Samus defeated him and he fell to his death but was revived as Omega Ridley.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Meta Ridley is a boss in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He can be fought, like all other bosses of that game, in the Subspace Emissary and in Boss Battles mode. In the Subspace Emissary, Meta Ridley attacks Samus as she and company are escaping on Captain Falcon's Falcon Flyer. He attacks by swooping, knocking the Flyer off-screen, and by breathing a variety of fiery projectiles.
