Agon Wastes is a once plentiful, now desert area of Planet Aether in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It houses one of the three Temples that holds the Energy Controller to rid Aether of its Dark counterpart. The impact of the Leviathan transformed the plains of Agon into an almost inhabitable wasteland. Most of the area is a barren landscape home of many dangerous predators, including Sandiggers, Sandbats, Brizgees, and Lumites. The desert is comprised of small Luminoth Mining stations. The main boss of this area is the Alpha Sandigger. A Space Pirate Facility also makes up a portion of the Wastes, where the Pirates appear to be conducting research on Phazon. Samus encounters Dark Samus in this area and acquires the Dark Beam. Agon Wastes is the section of the game that houses the most upgrades.
