Beetles are highly aggressive insects found in the Chozo Ruins and Tallon Overworld of Tallon IV. They burrow themselves into the ground and attack anything that comes near them. While underground, Samus can detect the Beetles' heat signature with the Thermal Visor. They also nest and incubate their young underground.[1]

They typically attack in large groups. One such group attacked Samus in the Chozo Ruins before she could acquire the Morph Ball. After Samus destroyed those Beetles, she battled the stronger Plated Beetle.

In Phendrana, there is a stronger variant known as Ice Beetles.
