Ice Beetles are highly aggressive insects found in Phendrana Drifts. They are a sub-species of the Beetle, but are more powerful. Their bodies have been strengthened by a resilient shell of ice. If Samus fails to defeat them, the Beetles will burrow and reappear in another location.

Like other ice based creatures, Ice Beetles are quickly defeated by the Plasma Beam.

This member of the Beetle family has adapted to life in the subzero temperatures in the Phendrana Drifts, growing a thick ice shell over its entire body. The ice is extremely resilient, providing the Ice Beetle with extra protection and augmented digging abilities. ^[1]
