The Translator Module is the piece of equipment Samus uses to decode alien languages.

In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the Translator Module is, at first, incapable of translating the different Luminoth holograms found on Aether. The Sentinel of Aether, U-Mos, upgrades her Translator Module to read Violet holograms,[1] and then the holographic projections of I-Sha, A-Voq, and O-Lir grant her the ability to translate Amber,[2] Emerald,[3] and Cobalt holograms,[4] respectively.

Interestingly enough, Samus's Translator Module does not have to be upgraded for her to download information from Luminoth Datapacs.
