A Dark Echo is an entity created by Dark Samus to aid her while in combat. The Echoes are first seen in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Dark Samus can create Echoes will ease, and these echoes can use most of the abilities of Dark Samus. They are usually created when Dark Samus jumps one direction, while an Echo jumps out of her in the other. They can also be created during the battle with Aurora Unit 313, as Dark Samus merges with its digital system.

Echoes are often used by Dark Samus in special, agile, and hard-to-dodge team attacks. Echoes can be destroyed relatively easily with a single, charged blast of Phazon when in Hypermode. Dark Samus will also use Dark Echoes as decoys to trick Samus into destroying a fake instead of the real enemy.

Differences[edit | edit source]

Dark Echoes can be distinguished from Dark Samus by several methods. The most visible difference is the fact that their visors are not white, but this can be hard to notice. Another difference is that Echoes do not have an X-Ray signature. The Scan Visor can also be used, as Echoes have a different, shorter Logbook Entry than Dark Samus's long Logbook Entry. Dark Echoes on the Hypermode difficulty of Corruption have a significantly larger amount of health.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The name of Dark Echoes is a reference to the previous game, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The title's name in Japan is localized as Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes.
