Ice Missiles are Missile upgrades in the Metroid series that can freeze enemies and other objects.

Metroid Fusion

Ice Missiles first appeared in Metroid Fusion as a replacement for the Ice Beam, as the Federation was afraid Samus's new Metroid DNA would reject the Ice Beam due to its weakness to low temperatures. Ice Missiles can freeze enemies and other living obstacles.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, they are obtained after defeating Rundas in the Temple of Bryyo on the planet of the same name. They can freeze enemies and Fuel Gel. They serve as a replacement to the Ice Beam, like Echoes' Dark Beam, however the reason for using Missiles instead of a beam is never explained. Ice Missiles can open doors with White Blast Shields.

Trivia

  • If a Reptilicus throws its boomerang at Samus and she freezes the creature before the boomerang gets back to it, the boomerang will shatter the reptile and Samus will receive a Friend Voucher and "Icy Repltilicide" will appear on the screen.
