Baby Sheegoths are the infant form of Phendrana's primary predator, the Sheegoths. They attack by ramming, firing large balls of energy, or frigid breath. Sheegoths' bodies are resistant to attacks, but their backsides are vulnerable. If Samus can break through the ice shell, she can quickly defeat Baby Sheegoths.
Like with other ice based creatures, Baby Sheegoths can be defeated quickly with the Plasma Beam.

A Baby Sheegoth is an infant Sheegoth. Baby Sheegoths only appear in the original Metroid Prime and are only found in Phendrana Drifts. They are large creatures with only two legs, no forelimbs, and no visible eyes. They have a resilient ice shell on their back, which is the only area that samus can damage. Once the shell is stressed enough, it shatters, revealing the Baby Sheegoth's sensitive back. Like other creatures accustomed to the extreme cold, Baby Sheegoths are vulnerable to intense heat.

When Samus attempts to acquired the Wave Beam, she is attacked by a group of four Baby Sheegoth. After they are defeated an adult Sheegoth attacks. Once Samus defeats Thardus, Baby Sheegoth become less common as the adults move into more areas.
Baby Sheegoths have three different methods of attack. They can breathe frigid ice that can freeze anything in its path, including Samus. They can also shoot ice energy spheres from their mouths to deal projectile damage. Their final form of attack is a close-range body ram used to knockout prey.

The Grenchler on Aether is a similar creature to the Baby Sheegoth.

When Samus attempts to acquired the Wave Beam, she is attacked by a group of four Baby Sheegoth. After they are defeated an adult Sheegoth attacks. Once Samus defeats Thardus, Baby Sheegoth become less common as the adults move into more areas.

The Grenchler on Aether is a similar creature to the Baby Sheegoth.
