The Bottle Ship is a Galactic Federation vessel which is used for illegal activity. The main events of Metroid: Other M take place in this large spacecraft.

Use

The Bottle Ship was designed by the Galactic Federation in order to cultivate bioweapons against Federation protocol in a series of simulated environments. This project as well as a secret project to mass produce Metroids is headed by Madeline Bergman.

Sector 1 (Biosphere)

Biosphere Mini-Bosses, the Ghalmanians

The Biosphere (Sector 1) is the first level of the Bottle Ship Commander Adam Malkovich assigns Samus to investigate. Officer Lyle Smithsonian was sent on ahead to check out some of the Sector's facilities. The Biosphere is a jungle themed level, complete with jungle themed enemies, and jungle themed bosses exclusive to the Biosphere. The Biosphere was used by the scientists of the Bottle Ship to raise and test animals for use as bioweapons. At the end of the level Samus comes to the Biosphere testing area, finding the rest of the Galactic Federation squad. A good example of the Biosphere's environment and enemies, would be in the Thorn Jungle, of Bryyo, in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Bioweapon Research Facility

The Bioweapon Research Facility can be located near the back (from the Main Elevator) of the Biosphere. The Bioweapon Research Facility is where Samus locates Madeline Bergman again, and learns about the Bottle Ship's mission, and what went wrong. Samus eventually returns to the Bioweapon Research Facility to find Ridley dead. Samus then begins to search for the lone survivor that Adam Malkovich told her about.

Sector 2 (Cryosphere)

Sector 3 (Pyrosphere)

Main article: Sector 3 (Pyrosphere)

The Pyrosphere is a volcanic environment in the Bottle Ship. It is home to numerous creatures adapted to its intense heat.

Sector Zero

Main article: Sector Zero

Sector Zero is a sector unknown to the Galactic Federation, including Adam Malkovich. Samus finds out about Sector 0 by talking with Madeline Bergman, the head of the Bottle Ship's illegal bioweapon testing. Madeline reveals to Samus that Madeline was raising Metroids in said sector, as well as a way to simulate Mother Brain (known as MB). As Samus heads for Sector 0, Malkovich stops her and tells her that he will use the sector's self-destruct feature to destroy all Metroids in the Sector. This is similar to the events that happen later in Metroid Fusion.

Trivia

  • Many similarities between Bottle Ship and the Biologic Space Laboratories Research Station. Both stations consist of specialized sectors Samus must venture through, both also sport discreet Metroid testing, and both hold the entirety of their respective games.
