Luminoth Holoprojectors were used by the Luminoth to record and play back holographic messages. It is by means of these holoprojectors that the deceased Sentinels I-Sha, A-Voq, and O-Lir are able to assist Samus when she visits the three lesser Energy Controllers on Aether, located in Agon Wastes, Torvus Bog, and Sanctuary Fortress, respectively.
The recorded holograms each have the ability to update Samus's Translator Module to decode holograms of a certain color.
