Shield Space Pirate Troopers are Pirate Troopers that are equipped with standard energy shields from the Space Pirate Organization. The shield is resistant to most small-arms fire, such as Beam weapons.[1] The shields were first put into commission prior to the events of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, before the Phazon incident of the Space Pirates. As most beam attacks will not penetrate the shield's energy, stronger projectiles such as Missiles or the Hyper Beam will dispose of the shield, rendering the target to become a standard Pirate Trooper and take out its scythe weapon.[1] The shield's portability is its weakness, and the Pirate's accuracy in offense may be hindered.[1] An effective method of disposing of the Trooper's shield is using the Grapple Lasso to pull it off. The Shield Pirate Trooper's energy can be drained with the Grapple Voltage or the Hyper Grapple, however unlike Shield Pirate Militia, the Trooper will fight back against its attacker.
