Stalactites are cone-like rock formations that hang on the ceilings of caves. Their opposites are Stalagmites, which are mounted on the floors of caves. Stalactites appear very frequently in the Metroid series, however only becoming part of a puzzle aspect in Metroid Prime. Found in Phendrana Drifts and Magmoor Caverns, they can be ruptured with a Missile and fall down, serving as a platform, and occasionally, kill an enemy such as a Magmoor or Puffers.
