Dark Preeds are Preeds possessed by Ing in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. As with Preeds, they have armored bodies and are filled with toxic gases. The Ing possession results in an increase in the deadliness of the toxin and a more durable armor. If their armor is breached, they will explode. Samus encounters them in numerous places throughout Dark Aether.[1]

The toxic gas carried by a Preed is enhanced by exposure to dark energy, making it considerably more dangerous." — Logbook "Dark Preed" (Metroid Prime 2: Echoes)
