The Galactic Federation Marine Corps Task Force Herakles is a division of the Galactic Federation Marine Corps patrolling different regions of space during the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The squadron Samus encounters while on Aether, Galactic Federation trooper squad Bravo,[1] were the men and women who made up the crew of the G.F.S. Tyr. They were on patrol in the Dasha Region when they engaged an unknown Space Pirate frigate and followed it into Aether's atmosphere, where a storm caused damage to their ship.[2] The magnetic interference from the storm disrupted their communications, and so they split into two groups: Force One, focused on repairing the downed ship, and Force Two, focused on setting up an Ops base.[3][4] Repeated encounters with Ing possessed Splinters led to ammunition depletion and the deaths of all members of Squad Bravo.[5]

Interestingly enough, the number of troopers Samus encounters on Aether doesn't correspond to the number of seats on the G.F.S. Tyr.
