Metroid Prime is the main antagonist of the Metroid Prime series. It is one of several types of Phazon-mutated Metroid, the others being Hopper Metroids, Phazon Metroids and Fission Metroids.

Characteristics

Metroid Prime

Metroid Prime differs greatly from other Metroids in that it cannot fly. Instead, it uses its powerful legs to walk and impale enemies. It has the ability to change its color and use different elements to attack Samus. It is vulnerable to the beam which corresponds to the element it has chosen. Yellow corresponds to the Power Beam, purple to the Wave Beam, white to the Ice Beam, and red to the Plasma Beam.

Metroid Prime Core

Once Metroid Prime has taken enough damage, its tough exterior sheds, revealing a more vulnerable core resembling Medusa. This form of the creature appears to be a large, floating, translucent head. It better resembles average Metroids than its shelled counterpart. It can only be defeated by Samus's Phazon Beam. This weapon can only be used while Samus is standing on a highly concentrated puddle of Phazon.

Trophies

  • Metroid Prime (Core):
The core form of Metroid Prime after losing its exoskeleton. It can make itself invisible for a set time, which requires Samus to make a visor change. Normal hits do not have any effect on it—the Metroid Prime can eventually be defeated by using the Phazon Beam while standing on a Phazon puddle.
  • Metroid Prime (Exo):
The form of the Metroid Prime that Samus first encounters. It can become invulnerable to all but one of Samus's weapons at a time. The body color alternates between yellow, purple, white, and red, with the color indicating the weapon that can deal damage. After taking a certain amount of damage, the Metroid Prime exoskeleton reveals its core essence.
