Location Items needed Notes
Crateria Morph Ball Bombs Samus must travel to her ship's Landing Site, then travel to the left two rooms. She must then use her Morph Ball Bombs to blow a hole open in the wall, granting access to a small chamber that holds the Tank.
Crateria Speed Booster Samus must use her Speed Booster to Shinespark through the upper left wall at her ship's Landing Site, then proceed to the left until she reaches the Tank.
Brinstar Super Missiles After defeating Kraid, Samus must travel to the elevator that leads to Norfair, then travel to the right, using a Super Missile to break through the wall. She must then drop down a shaft and enter a previously sealed door. The Tank sits hidden inside the ceiling.
Brinstar Power Bombs Samus must travel to the bottom of the large green shaft, then lay a Power Bomb and drop through the floor, exiting through the door found there. She must travel along the corridor until she reaches the Tank, being careful to avoid a hole in front of the Tank.
Brinstar Hi-Jump Boots or Space Jump Samus must travel to the shaft nearby the first Missile Expansion in the game, then exit through the upper right. She must then shoot a hole in the ceiling at the right side of the chamber to reveal the Tank. She can reach it with the Hi-Jump Boots or Space Jump, or Bomb Jump up to the top of the ceiling.
Brinstar Samus must travel to a purple shaft with snowflakes in the background, then open a Yellow Door there with a Power Bomb. She must then travel up the shaft inside, either by Wall Jumping or by using the Grappling Beam, then open a shutter at the top with the Wave Beam. This opens a door at the ground level. Samus must go through the door to acquire the Tank.
Brinstar Samus must travel to the room that contains the Charge Beam, then destroy the floor with a Power Bomb, dropping down and exiting through the next door. She then finds a large corridor filled with water. She must then use her Speed Booster to Shinespark through the upper left corner of the room, revealing the Tank. The Gravity Suit helps immensely with moving underwater to acquire this Tank, but it is possible without the Gravity Suit.
Norfair No items are needed After entering Norfair for the first time, Samus must drop to the bottom of the shaft and exit through the left. The Tank sits inside.
Norfair Grappling Beam After Crocomire meets his end and Samus obtains the Grappling Beam, she must return to Crocomire's lair, then use a set of Grappling Beam Blocks in the lair to access the Tank in the upper right of the room.
Norfair Power Bombs After escaping a shaft that fills slowly with lava, Samus must travel to the right, then destroy a dragon's head with a Power Bomb. She must then drop down a shaft hidden behind the head, all the way to the bottom right, where the Tank awaits.
Norfair No items are needed After her duel with Ridley, Samus must travel back to his lair, then exit through the left side. She finds a room that holds the capsule the Metroid Hatchling once resided in. The Tank is hidden in the floor directly in front of the capsule.
Wrecked Ship Samus must travel to the right portion of the ship, near the exit to Crateria, then shoot a hole in the roof and go through the door there. She must then traverse a flooded corridor using the Gravity Suit and Grappling Beam, eventually discovering the Tank on the left side of the room.
Maridia No items are needed After defeating Botwoon, Samus must exit its lair through the bottom right. She must then find a hidden tunnel in the ceiling that eventually leads to the Tank.
