The GFMC Compound is a room in the Temple Grounds. The room connects the Trooper Security Station, the Sacred Bridge, the Windchamber Tunnel, and the Fortress Transport Access. It served as an emergency landing site for Squad Bravo of the GFMC Task Force Herakles when their ship, the G.F.S. Tyr, was damaged by magnetic storms.[1]

Samus first enters the room from the Trooper Security Station, which is connected by a hallway that opens into the main chamber. The G.F.S. Tyr rests in the center. A large gate of Luminoth origin lays to the right of the Tyr and can only be lowered once Samus updates her Translator Module to read Emerald holograms, and behind it is the door to the Fortress Transport Access.

Several corpses of the members of Squad Bravo are scattered throughout the room, including Lance Corporal J. Brode, Private First Class I. Crany, Captain A. Exeter, Private First Class G. Haley, Private First Class S. Milligan, and Specialist F. Triplette, many of them containing intact Trooper Logs.

When Samus enters this area, a higher ledge forces her to go right. When she passes the ledge, a cutscene shows her accessing a Galactic Federation Data Terminal containing a final message from Captain Exeter regarding the fate of his crew.

A number of Galactic Federation Crates can be found throughout the room. One Galactic Federation Ordnance Crate rests in front of the Tyr and contains the Missile Launcher.[2] Once the Launcher has been obtained, four Dark Splinters will appear from Portals and attack.

A Map Station can be accessed inside the Tyr by scanning an interior door. From the Tyr, Samus can access a walkway which leads to a disabled Kinetic Orb Cannon. The Cannon can be reactivated by scanning a nearby terminal. The cannon will shoot Samus over to a high ledge on the other side of the room. From here, she can jump down to the ledge encountered when she first entered. This ledge leads to the door to the Sacred Bridge, blocked by a Missile Shield. A small Morph Ball tunnel can be found on the right, which leads to an alcove. This alcove has the door to the Windchamber Tunnel, blocked by a Yellow Door. A Missile Expansion can be found on the top of the Tyr, but can only be collected using the Screw Attack.

Three Pirate Troopers will appear on the second visit, and three War Wasp Hives on all later visits. The Hives will spawn infinite amounts of War Wasps until they are destroyed.

Inhabitants of the Room

Creature Number Encountered
Dark Splinters 4  Only after collecting the Missile Launcher
Pirate Troopers 3  Second visit
War Wasps  All later visits
